TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — An Iranian navy helicopter confronted a U.S. warship trying to strategy Iranian territorial waters within the Gulf of Oman on Wednesday, Iranian state TV reported.
The incident was the primary direct encounter reported between Iranian and U.S. forces for the reason that 12-day battle between Iran and Israel, throughout which U.S. B-52 bombers focused Iranian nuclear amenities.
The report stated Iranian forces dispatched the helicopter to confront a U.S. Navy destroyer recognized as the usFitzgerald that approached the waters at round 10 a.m. native time.
