A view inside a warehouse on the Municipal Docks on April 8, 1916. JAXPORT’s Talleyrand Marine Terminal is positioned 21 miles from the Atlantic Ocean. The terminal opened because the Municipal Docks and Terminal Firm in 1916 after the Board of Port Commissioners authorised its building in 1914. The positioning has beforehand been occupied by the Previous Troopers Residence off Talleyrand Avenue.

The Seatrain San Juan at Talleyrand Marine Terminal in August 1972. The Seatrain San Juan was a container ship that supplied service to Puerto Rico and the U.S. East Coast, starting in 1967. On the time, Jacksonville was as soon as a serious hub for worldwide commerce, rating among the many high 5 ports for espresso and vehicle imports. Annually, roughly 120,000 tons of inexperienced espresso beans and 150,000 vehicles handed via the Jacksonville Port Authority’s amenities. Ro/Ro on Blount Island in the course of the Nineties. Roll-on/roll-off (Ro-Ro) ships are used to move wheeled cargo, resembling vehicles, vans, buses, and trailers, throughout oceans and waterways. Ro-Ro ships are additionally used as passenger/automotive ferries, particularly on short-sea routes.
